Project Declutter
One of my favourite things to do is declutter. That’s not to say it is easy or that I am good at it, but it certainly feels better once it is done. At the moment I am sorting through all the things I have been meaning to get rid of. I have left it far too long and it has just piled up and made my spare room and garage messy. Not only is it cluttering my space, but the thought of it all is cluttering my mind. So, it is time to go. It is “Project Declutter”. See what I did there, giving it a name makes it more important and exciting than it actually is.
Now that my mind is on the track of decluttering I am thinking about what else I can get rid of and my pile is growing. The next step is to figure out how I am going to get rid of it. I think it is going to be a mixture of selling it, giving it to charity and dumping it. Deep breath – here I go.
I always struggle to let go of things. I’m not a hoarder, but I do get sentimental, and then when I let go of that, I struggle to come to terms with the pittance people pay for each much loved well looked after item. Then I inevitably reach a point where I just want it all gone and out of the house and I end up giving it all to charity. Not a bad thing I suppose but I do wish I could un-complicate the process for myself.
How often do you have a “Project Declutter” moment? Do you try and sell your unwanted things or do you just give them to charity?
