Homemade Pasta

Homemade pasta is one of my favourite things because …

It’s so easy to make – 100g of flour & 1 egg per serving, seriously!
I enjoy the process of making it. From the rhythmic kneading of the dough to rolling out the sheets thiner and thiner and slicing it to shape.
I love that my daughter wants to help.
I love choosing different ingredients to mix in with it.
It’s fresher, cheaper, more filling and more delicious than bought packet pasta.

What’s not to love, homemade pasta is one of my favourite things.

Does it work the same for wheat free ?
How do you cut it ?
Do you use a special pasta maker/cutter ?

  Yes you can do wheat free with a mix of rice, quinoa or buckwheat flour and tapioca to make it pliable. I’ve never tried it myself though I have heard of it done with success.
  I use a pasta machine to roll and cut my dough, though you can roll with a rolling pin or well floured glass bottle. You can then simply hand cut whatever shapes you like with a sharp knife. It is a bit fiddly to hand cut them but you can get creative with it and it would look nice and rustic too.

I love making my own pasta too. Gnocchi is my favourite though-I finally found a home made recipe that was delicious and light!

  Ooo- gnocchi! I haven’t made that in a while. Thanks it is now on my meals list for this week. I have always struggled to hit that perfect balance with it and when I have I think it was by fluke. I will have to look at your tips on your blog.
