Fluro makes you run faster

I enjoy running. It gives me asthma, which is a new development, and sore knees, geez I feel old now, so call me crazy, but I like it. I probably always have. I remember doing ‘cross country’ runs as a kid. I assume everyone knows what that is, but for those who don’t it is a race where you run across different natural terrains rather than simply around and around a running track. Living in a fairly rural area this meant we ran across cow paddocks, up steep hills, through bush, across streams and over bumpy dusty roads until at the end of 3km you got a ribbon. Yes, I was at that magical age when everyone gets a ribbon.

It is twenty odd years later and nowadays I like to run the suburban streets of my neighbourhood and local parks. I don my short shorts, strap my boobs in and with a beat in my ears I disappear. I enter another world as I pound the pavement, my mind wanders and I escape the chaos I left behind the front door.

I have a fluro top I like to wear. It keeps me cool, wicks sweat blah blah blah but really it just makes me feel like I know what I’m doing. And for a while I ridiculed all those people who wore fluro running shoes and now, just quietly, I want a pair! Let’s face it, fluro makes you run faster.

Do you like to run? More importantly do you have fluro shoes?
