Deck the Halls
And so this is Christmas. And what have we done? We have decked the halls, with boughs of … tinsel! Christmas has come to our house and there is tinsel and Santa’s and rumballs galore.
Every year we wait until December 1st to put up our decorations. The excitement and anticipation builds and we let it explode in a glittery mess all over the house. We have a mix of old decorations from when we were kids, sparkly new stuff from the shops and a few homemade Christmas creations too.
The Christmas music was cranked up loud and we danced around flinging decorations all over the house.
On previous years I have made my two girls a stocking each to hang up for Santa to fill with special little treats and gifts. I have a love hate relationship with the bells that becomes obvious in the dark quiet of Christmas Eve. There is also a countdown calendar that I made to match their stockings. Each year I fill the pockets with something exciting for each day. I’m going to blog about it very soon so keep an eye out for that one.
After bath time we try and calm down from all of the excitement and we all sit under the tree and read Christmas stories and watch the lights twinkling against the glittery baubles all shiny and bright.
Then when the kids are tucked up in bed and fast asleep we enjoy a glass of Cointreau and under the twinkling glow of Christmas lights … I fix it all up.
Do you wait until the 1st December to decorate your house?
